Hold onto your hats – one Petabyte, one end user, one deal! That’s a long way from where we started and quite a testament to the value that businesses are seeing from Drobo.
We don’t as yet have the approval to give you all the details about the customer and their use case, but this is just a natural (albeit unexpectedly large) step in our growth into the business segment. Our most recent largest deal was a quarter of a petabyte, just a few months ago. But this is ONE PETABYTE. Some of you may have already seen the quotes, and time and money savings that our business customers are reporting.
Thanks to all of our customers and partners who continue to help us along the way …. much like my first St. Pauli Girl beer, I am never going to forget Drobo’s first petabyte deal!!!!

Congratulations! I just wanted to say post 404
You don’t have to tell us who it is or the use case, but can you tell us what devices they bought, what hard drives they put in them, and how many of each? i.e. 50 B1200i & 550 2TiB SATA whatevers…I just want to know for the total cool geekness of this.
WOW!! What a way for Drobo to expand. I am proud to be a part of it.
It was around 40 of our 8-bay products, each filled with 3TB drives… think “lotsa video”… Tom
[...] blogged that a Drobo customer bought a petabyte of Drobo storage in a single deal. Imagine the sales [...]
sigh, the record has broken, we are working on a 720TB project with B1200i, hopefully can get the deal this year
Awesome news! I have both of the Drobo 4-bays (Gen1 and 2) and have NEVER had an issue. I love my Drobos and always recommend Drobo to friends. Thanks for the update Tom.
Hi guys…saw this on your facebook page..that’s great for Drobo!!
Quick question…Drobo users on your facebook page are complaining that no-one is answering their comments/questions…are you going to address this? Otherwise what’s the point of having a facebook page, to reach out to people if you only use it for marketing purposes and not for engaging with your Customers
Hi Steve, not that we don’t want to engage, honestly, but we’re a little bandwidth constrained at the moment. We promise to be better as we reassign some resources in the next couple of days. Thank you for letting us know – we appreciate your feedback! Best, Victoria Thomas, admin
